Selecta Rawsilk

DJ RAWsilk Biopic

My love of music goes all the way back to being 14 years old. For me, music wasn’t just something to listen to, it was a way of finding myself and a place where I truly felt I belonged. I grew up on the energy of late-70s and early-80s soul weekenders, jazz-funk sessions, and all-dayers that shaped who I am and the sound I carry with me today.

Before the digital era, you’d find me behind the decks at birthday parties and weddings, anywhere I could share the tunes that moved me. When internet radio arrived, it opened the door for me to reconnect with music on a much more personal level. I stepped into online broadcasting around 2006/2007, and from there the journey just kept growing.

I’ve had the privilege of playing on some incredible stations, including Mega-Don Radio, Irie Explosion Radio, The People’s Choice Radio, Soul Legends Radio, and more along the way. Each one taught me something, but it’s here at Zionhighness that I’ve truly found my musical home.

My taste is broad and deeply rooted: old soul, British reggae, lovers rock, and of course my first love, funk and soul. That passion is the reason behind my DJ name: RAWsilk“Do It to the Music.”
